Romney Calls For Bipartisanship In Farewell Speech After Fighting Trump For Years

Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney used his farewell Senate address to call for unity amid growing partisanship. Reflecting on his career, Romney expressed pride in his achievements but admitted frustration over unresolved issues, particularly the rising national debt.

“Our national credit card is almost maxed out, risking America’s financial stability,” he said, emphasizing the potential benefits of reducing interest payments to fund military or Social Security programs.

Romney praised bipartisan relationships in the Senate but criticized “meaningless votes” and the lack of progress on key issues. He also appeared to take veiled jabs at Donald Trump, warning against those who “tear at our unity” and “debase our values.”
