Trump Questions Political Contributions Linked to Beyoncé and Oprah

In a recent Truth Social post, former President Donald Trump raised concerns over celebrity appearances at Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign events, alleging that several well-known figures were paid large sums to publicly endorse her. Among those mentioned were Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Rev. Al Sharpton.

Trump claimed, without providing evidence, that Beyoncé was paid $11 million to briefly attend a Harris rally and endorse the campaign. He also alleged that Winfrey received $3 million and Sharpton $600,000 for their public support. “They were paid to do absolutely nothing,” Trump wrote, adding, “YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

These claims have not been independently verified, and outlets such as Newsweek have reported that no official evidence has been presented to support the allegations. Federal Election Commission (FEC) records do not show an $11 million payment to Beyoncé. However, filings do confirm a $165,000 payment to her media company, Parkwood Entertainment.

Similarly, Harpo Productions, Oprah Winfrey’s company, was paid $1 million, and Sharpton’s National Action Network received $500,000. These payments were reportedly for organizing and hosting events, including a livestreamed campaign gathering in Michigan.

The Harris campaign has denied that any improper payments were made. A spokesperson refuted the $10 million figure cited in online speculation and reaffirmed that all campaign finances were reported in accordance with federal law.

During her brief appearance at a 2024 rally, Beyoncé addressed the crowd, stating, “I’m not here as a celebrity… I’m here as a mother who cares deeply about our future.”

As of now, no investigations have been announced by the Federal Election Commission or the Department of Justice regarding the payments or the celebrity endorsements. Campaign finance filings available to the public do not support claims of illegal activity.

While the issue has sparked political discussion, the allegations remain unproven, and current records suggest the payments were made for event-related services, not endorsements.
