FBI Director Kash Patel has confirmed that his agency is probing into potential financial supporters behind the violent anti-ICE riots that occurred in Los Angeles. Patel elaborated that the FBI is meticulously examining any possible funding sources that may have incited the unrest that erupted in California on June 6, 2025.
In context, reports confirmed on June 16, 2025, that FBI Director Kash Patel had candidly discussed taking all necessary actions to identify leftist financial supporters behind the violent protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that persisted for several days in California. Director Patel reportedly informed the Epoch Times that the agency was investigating “any and all” potential funding sources for the riots.
Additionally, Epoch Times journalist Eva Fu reported claims that the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a communist political group, had been channeling funds to support the riots. Fu noted that the party had been “posting updates about the riots on social media platform X, characterizing the arrests of illegal immigrants as a ‘war being waged on immigrant communities.’”
As Fu detailed, the Party for Socialism and Liberation issued several statements on X in conjunction with the protests, including a June 8, 2025, post that labeled the ICE raids in Los Angeles as “the war on immigrants,” asserting, “Immigrants are and have always been a central part of the working class of this country. We cannot allow them to divide us and turn neighbor against neighbor.”
Moreover, the party’s post contended that if the “entire working class” were to mobilize, it could potentially “alter the political landscape of this country and deliver a blow to the billionaire agenda of the Trump Administration from which it will never recover.” Notably, Fu highlighted that the party was “connected to networks financed by pro-Beijing tech magnate Neville Roy Singham.”
Furthermore, Fu indicated that the People’s Forum, another organization supported by Singham, had also advocated for the anti-ICE protests on X, urging individuals to “demand ICE get out of our communities” in a post dated June 8, 2025. The post further stated, “For those who support immigrant rights, for those who uphold democracy, for the entire working class – now is the moment to take to the streets in protest!”
Continuing her investigative article regarding the potential funding sources for the riots, Fu noted that the People’s Forum had explicitly mentioned receiving financial support from Singham, citing a statement from the organization that declared, “Yes, we stand with Palestine. Yes, we oppose the U.S. war drive on Russia and China. And yes, for the thousandth time, TPF has received donations from our friend Roy Singham, a former Black Panther and lifelong socialist, who had a bank account at Goldman Sachs.”
The claims that organizations funded by Singham had channeled money into the anti-ICE riots reportedly prompted Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to request an investigation into Singham, along with other members of the House Oversight Committee. On June 13, 2025, Rep. Luna posted on X, “EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN on @GOPoversight signed on to our investigation into billionaire Neville Singham. We will NOT TOLERATE CCP sowing division in our country!”
