Dad Sends Heartbreaking Goodbye Message To His Kids Before Dying In Texas Floods

A young man recently opened up about the heartbreaking moment he and his sister heard their father’s final voicemail. It was recorded just before he lost his life in the tragic Texas floods.

The deadly flooding swept through communities in Texas, claiming the lives of at least 109 people and leaving more than 170 others still unaccounted for.

This natural disaster struck in the early morning hours of July 4. It was triggered when the Guadalupe River suddenly overflowed after an intense downpour of rain in a very short period of time.

Out of the many heartbreaking stories to come from this disaster, one in particular stands out. It involves a pair of siblings who were left with a chilling voicemail from their father—a message he recorded when he likely knew his end was near.

Speaking with the New York Post, the son shared that their 61-year-old father, Jeff Ramsey, is still missing and is now presumed to have died. His Airstream camper was located at the HTR RV Park in Kerrville when it was overtaken by the floodwaters. The situation unfolded quickly, and Jeff, realizing the danger, reached out to his kids one last time.Jeff Ramsey called his children when he realized he isn’t likely to survive(Facebook)

His son, Jake, explained that Jeff had been with his wife Tanya, who is 46 years old, along with their beloved whippet dog during the terrifying event.

Jake shared, “Once they realized there was nothing they could do, my stepmom was on the phone with her mom while my dad made a call to me and my sister. We were asleep. He left us a message saying he was not going to make it and that he loved us so much, telling us goodbye.”

“He called me once he realized there was no hope. It was a short voicemail. He just left me a voicemail. He said, ‘Buddy. I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her’.”

He mentioned that what struck him the most was how unusual it was to hear his dad sounding that afraid. The panic in his father’s voice was something he had never heard before, and it deeply affected him.

He also recalled that the loud roar of rushing water could clearly be heard in the background of the voicemail his father left for him and his sister.

In addition to the touching goodbye, Jake pointed out that his father wasn’t only thinking about his own family in those last moments. He also tried to protect others as the floodwaters came crashing in.

According to Jake, his father made a quick call to his wife’s brother and mother at around 4:30 a.m. They were staying in another cabin located roughly 150 yards away from the river, and he wanted to make sure they were warned in time.

Jake said, “He rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away. That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives.”
