These 4 heroes knew something was wrong, and they did the necessary to protect the little girl from the perpetrator.
Sometimes it feels like someone put us on the spot to act and make things right. But in some spots it takes a lot of courage to act for those in need.
Four boys were having a regular day. Arnaud Nimenya, Carsyn Wright, James Hielema and Starlyn Rives-Perez were skateboarding in an underground parking lot when they saw something that just didn’t feel right.
A young girl, around 15 years old and intoxicated had been forcefully dragged through the place by a well-dressed man, and it didn’t feel like it was her father.
This was an alarming sign that the boys need to do something.
The young girl was so drunk that she was screaming and yelling, the boys recall. “She just wanted to be out of there. She was all scuffed up and dirty.”
But after the boys got closer to inspect the case, the man claimed to be her father. She didn’t say anything so they decided to step back.
“You don’t want to really think of the worst in somebody like that. You don’t want that situation to be real, so you just brush it off and hope for the best,” Wright said.
But the four heroes had a gut feeling that something is not right, so they decided to turn back and inspect the situation one more time.
It turned out that decision helped save the girl!
Having returned back to inspect, they witnessed something that send chills down their spine. The man was sexually assaulting the young girl, and helpless she couldn’t defend herself.
“You walk in, and you see something like that, and you freeze. You don’t know what to do,” Nimenya, one of the young men, said.
They knew they had to act swift to save the poor girls life and started running towards the attacker. The man started running and attempted to escape the parking lot.
“He was trying to walk out and walk away from us,” said Nimenya. “He pushed me aggressively out of the way, kinda like just gives me the smile, like, ‘I can do this. You can’t do anything about it.’”
The young champions didn’t let the man escape and they were trying to do something and stop him from feeling like nothing happened, but it ended with physical confrontation after the man started hitting the boys with one of their skateboards. Luckily the police came just in time to resolve justice.
Luckily for the assaulted girl, the boys where put in the spot from a higher power to save her.
The police officers didn’t allow the act of bravery to go unnoticed, so they decided to invite the young heroes to the Chief’s Awards Gala where they were presented with awards and the public recognition they deserved.
I hope the parents are proud with the kids they raised, because without them, we would be left with one more victim of sexual assault, or things could’ve ended up much worse for her.
