Police Move In, Make Arrest After Violent Threat Against Trump

Florida authorities arrested Shannon Depararro Atkins, 46, for making violent threats against former President Donald Trump online. Atkins was detained during a traffic stop in West Palm Beach on Friday, where police found cocaine in his possession.

Police had been alerted to his posts prior to the inauguration, including comments like “America needs one good bullet to be saved” and “I hope and pray someone kills him.” He later claimed these were just “jokes.”

Atkins faces charges for drug possession and making written or electronic threats of violence, a second-degree felony. The Secret Service will decide if federal charges are warranted. This follows a similar arrest in August, where an Arizona man was detained for threatening Trump.
