Two men play a “Boogie Woogie Jam” on a public piano at St Pancras International railway station as a woman joins their performance unexpectedly.
The St. Pancras International is a very special place. It’s a historic railway station in London that was once considered for a shutdown. But this was fiercely opposed and it ultimately was revamped and renamed. In 2007, following major work, it was reopened as the terminal for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
It is home to fifteen platforms, a shopping center, and a public piano that commuters can play while waiting for their train. But this isn’t just any piano. This is a piano donated by Sir Elton John
You can share a special moment from this special place wherever you are in the world by watching this short video clip. With their jackets and bags piled next to the piano, two men go to town jamming together on this public piano.
A woman with bright red hair and a couple of drum sticks joined the jam session. She mostly uses the tile floor as her drum, but occasionally mixes it up with using the leg of the piano bench.
People with coats and luggage gather ’round to enjoy the impromptu show. Late in the video, the videographer circles around to the other side of the piano and you see there are more people lined up on the other side.
If the ambience of hanging in this historic train station wasn’t enough, this fantastic jam session surely should be. It’s a reminder to all of us to take time to smell the roses and that life is a journey, not a destination. Make sure to take some time in your life to enjoy the trip. As you go through your day, take time to notice the little details, and have a bit of fun wherever possible.
