How to Stop Flies, Mosquitoes, and Cockroaches Naturally

Few things ruin a peaceful evening at home faster than pests. Flies circling your plate, mosquitoes buzzing nearby, or a cockroach scurrying under the sink can turn any sanctuary into a battleground. Fortunately, you probably already have the tools to fight back with a simple, natural solution using everyday household items.

This method combines mint toothpaste, baking soda, and vinegar, creating a scent and environment pests can’t tolerate. Flies, mosquitoes, and roaches rely heavily on smell to navigate, and the sharp, cooling fragrance of mint disorients them. Adding vinegar and baking soda produces a brief fizzing reaction and a lingering sharpness that roaches, in particular, dislike.

To prepare, mix 1 tablespoon of toothpaste with 1 tablespoon of baking soda, then slowly add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Stir in ½ cup lukewarm water and, optionally, 5–10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Pour the mixture into small containers like jar lids or saucers and place them strategically: behind trash bins, near sinks, close to doors or windows, and along baseboards.

Within an hour, the room will smell faintly minty, and pests will start avoiding these areas. Refresh the mixture every two to three days for maximum effect, especially during warm months. This non-toxic, inexpensive method allows you to reclaim your home without harsh chemicals. Combined with proper hygiene, sealed food, and clean surfaces, this simple trick keeps your space free from flies, mosquitoes, and cockroaches while maintaining a safe environment for your family.
